David Paulus is an Afro‑Caribbean contemporary fashion artist whose practice is rooted in the histories of his ancestors. Born of Curaçaoan lineage shaped by the transatlantic past, he honors his forebears by weaving their stories into garments and installations. Drawing on Curaçaoan traditions, religions, folk beliefs and cultural practices, David transforms found, waste and recycled materials into tactile, ritualized pieces. Working across fashion, textile and participatory installation, he stages collaborative processes that make memory visible and present—wearable testimonies and immersive cloth‑works that invite reflection, remembrance and communal repair. His work is both homage and living archive of his ancestors’ resilience.
