Leon is a queer Mexican artist based in Montréal whose practice treats fashion as a conceptual and artistic medium beyond clothing. Working primarily with recycled, thrifted, and donated materials, Leon transforms discarded textiles and found objects into sculptural garments that carry layered narratives of identity, memory, and renewal.
Rooted in Mayan heritage and shaped by observations of everyday life and the natural world, the work reflects a deep engagement with cyclical transformation, where waste becomes material for storytelling and reclamation. Through this process, Leon builds garments that function as both wearable forms and artistic artifacts, exploring the intersections of ancestry, ecology, and contemporary identity.
