My name is Sitoë Thiam, I’m a fiber artist by trade and a mechanical engineer by training. I like to make useful, beautiful things from trash to affirm its possible. My vision is to slowly replace the existential fear surrounding environmental degradation and industrial overproduction with the excitement at finding new use and beauty in the materials we discard. So I take my own trash, trash gifted to me, or material I source secondhand. I examine it for some time to understand the material properties I can repurpose. Then I carefully craft a bespoke handbag that is a love letter to the original material, but in a form that’s not as easily taken for granted.
