TeJiri Duke

Tejiri Duke is a Lagos, Nigeria–based jewelry designer and the creative force behind Botanika, a collection of wearable art inspired by the intricate relationship between nature and cultural heritage. Her work takes hyper-realistic forms—plants, flowers, calabash vessels, and traditional musical instruments—reimagined as sculptural adornment.

Each piece is meticulously constructed using richly textured materials such as wooden beads, gold accents, polished cowries, and periwinkle shells, weaving together stories of place, ancestry, and identity. Duke’s practice centers on material storytelling, transforming organic and symbolic forms into powerful, embodied narratives.

The fabrics and materials within Botanika are sourced from personal scrap textiles collected over years of making, intentionally upcycled into wearable luxury objects. Through this process, Tejiri elevates discarded fragments into culturally rooted artifacts, celebrating sustainability, memory, and the enduring dialogue between nature, craftsmanship, and adornment.
