Kayra Theodore

Stylist

Kayra Theodore is a Haitian-American model and innovative hair artist redefining the boundaries of beauty and cultural expression through sculptural hairstyling. Known for transforming textured hair into bold, architectural art, her work celebrates identity, creativity, and the expressive potential of Black hair.

Born and raised in the United States with Haitian roots, Kayra graduated from college in 2021 with a degree in biology (Health Sciences) from Long Island University-Post Campus. Shortly after graduating, she signed with a modeling agency and began building her portfolio.

While developing her modeling career, Kayra began offering to style hair during photoshoots. What started as a practical way to contribute quickly evolved into a signature artistic practice. Entirely self-taught, she draws inspiration from online sources and YouTube tutorials to create imaginative looks that play with shape, texture, and form.

Her hairstyling ranges from halo-like bantu knots to intricate braids that curve and swirl like living sculptures, often celebrating the richness of natural Black hair.

Kayra’s work has attracted attention for its creativity and cultural resonance. She has collaborated on notable projects, including crafting an architectural hairstyle for model and creative personality Nara Smith, and has been featured among boundary-pushing beauty creatives in publications such as Dazed.

Through her dual roles in front of and behind the camera, Kayra Theodore continues to expand how hair can function as both art and storytelling, positioning herself as a rising voice in contemporary beauty and fashion.
