Born in NY, Lazarus Lazarides is a film director with extensive experience in the film industry. He earned his degree in Filmmaking from University of London, and in 2016, he was selected as one of only thirteen filmmakers to participate in the highly selective MFA Filmmaking program at the Feirstein Graduate School of Cinema, located at Steiner Studios in Brooklyn, NY.
At the core of Lazarus' filmmaking is a genuine urge to examine and demonstrate current social issues. He is interested in exploring the identity of the individual in contemporary society and has been working extensively on different projects exploring ideas of racism, violence, and social inequalities. Throughout his career, Lazarus has directed a wide range of award winning narrative films, documentaries, commercials in both the United States and Europe.
He has worked with leading advertising agencies, including Wunderman Thompson, and his films have been screened internationally at major festivals,Maryland Film Festival - Opening Film -Queer Stories-, Maine International Film Festival, Zaragoza Film Festival in Spain , Thessaloniki, VAEFF Tribeca Centre, Won the Best Film Award in FIC Mexico and Jury Award in Splice Film Festival in NY for his film BUTTERFLY. In addition to his traditional film work, Lazarus has also been exploring the emerging field of Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) storytelling, both in narrative and commercial forms.in 2019, he was awarded the prestigious CITY award from the NYC Mayor’s Office of Film, for his upcoming sci-fi fiction film he directed Lamp Experiment which explores the phenomenon of gun violence in USA.
