Description

Left Hanging was created by the manipulation of copper wire screen to create human interaction of intertwined figures that are then sculpted and manipulated with intricate detail. Copper mesh resembles a two-way mirror changing significantly based on lighting. The light either bounces off the copper pieces illuminating a glowing sculpture or travels though the mesh showing a translucent after image creating an inter-active sculpture. The shadows resemble beautifully shaded graphite drawings. Left Hanging blue pigmentation was created with a chemical fuming process symbolically showing the corrosion and suffering in our present society.

About the Maker

Meet Lori Horowitz

Lori Horowitz, a New York native, is a multidisciplinary artist whose work is shaped by experience as an educator, scenic designer, curator, and gallerist. Her sculpture examines overlooked human interactions, exploring both social disconnect and shared humanity through eclectic materials and techniques. Since 2015, she has presented 11 solo exhibitions and taken part in over 100 group shows. She also works as an independent curator, previously led a nonprofit art space, serves as president of the New York Society of Women Artists, and is represented nationally and internationally and recently was featured in Artist Magazine.
